Built for Delaware & Bound Brook Railroad (a P&R subsidiary) as #507; repossessed by Baldwin; s to Eames Vacuum Brake Company and named Lovett Eames in honor of father of the company's founder; shipped to England for use as a demonstrator of the vacuum brake system on the Great Northern Railway; modified for the smaller loading gauge of Britian with a shorter stack and cab roof; operated there as Lovett Eames; sold 1884 to a scrap dealer for $900; scrapped soon after. The bell from this locomotive has been preserved and as of 1973 resided in the Railway Gallery of the Science Museum in London. |
